    Cast on 38 as instructions say, come to the end of row 7 which adds up to 40 stitches. Rows 8 and 9 revert back to 38, row 10 is another 40. I am a novice knitter, and don't know what the pattern wants. Any help is appreciated, and thank you.

    Rows 11 and 13 have 40 stitches and the pattern only calls for 38 stitches. Is there a corrected pattern available for this Roman Cloth because I love this pattern but it does not work out when I try to knit it with the above directions.

    Rows 11 and 13 have you working only 36 stitches instead of the 38 you have on the needle. What to do with the other 2 stitches?
